Your Ready Resume and/or cover letter/s will be emailed as PDF files to the email address you provide when you order. You will then be able to email immediately or print out as many copies as you wish. We even include helpful hints on how to get the best results when you email or print your resume.
A. Well, that's going to change throughout your career, but it's safe to assume that a 1-page Ready Resume will be ideal for a student or graduate, or someone in the early phases of their career. A 2-page Ready Resume is for those with experience just too good to leave off, and Executive Multi-page resumes are for experienced professionals! As a guide, we've provided our recommended word counts for each Ready Resume option. You can find these in our Resume Services.
But remember, if you exceed the recommended word count and you don’t want to upgrade your resume, you’ll just be making your layout more cramped and harder to read while diminishing its impact! When we receive your information, and, if we think this will be the case, we will contact you immediately to discuss the options. Q. Should I include referees on my resume? A. Well, the jury's out on this one. We recommend you include the phrase "Referees available upon request", but it comes down to personal choice. If you decide to include your referees' details, don't forget to let those people know that your'e job hunting and they may be contacted. Q. Do you proof read the information I provide? A. No, we use your text information exactly the way you provide it, so check and double check everything before you submit it! Q. Can I edit my Ready Resume? A. There are two easy ways to edit your Ready Resume. Simply go to our Resume Services menu and click on Editing. You can edit up to 4 sections on your resume, with prices starting from just $15.95. You will need to provide your original order ID number and the first and last names that appeared on the original order. (If you have trouble locating your original order ID, just send us an email and we'll track it down for you). If you need to make lots of edits with some regularity, you might want to consider ordering a Do It Yourself Background. For just $9.95, you can download a professional-quality background, along with an armload of hints on how to make the most of your resume. Best of all, you can then edit, lay out and design your resume as often as you want, FREE.
A. If you are editing an existing Ready Resume, you will need the original order ID which was emailed to you as part of your purchased confirmation. If you've misplaced that email and need to locate your order ID, send us an email advising the name in which the Ready Resume was ordered and the approximate date, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
A. We regularly introduce fresh new design, colors and images into the Ready Resumes range. It gives our customers the chance to sample something new, and it means that your resume will look different and unique - even when it's compared to other Ready Resumes!
A. We offer better than that – you can order a Ready Resume background template and design your own resume, instantly! Simply go to the ‘Do It Yourself’ option in the Resume Services menu. It takes just a few minutes to order your background image and get started. We’ll even give you FREE tips on how to really make your resume look great, including samples, the fonts we used, how to make PDFs and more.
A. Your DIY background will be automatically emailed as a jpeg attachment, upon confirmation of order payment. It will be 1-3MB so please ensure your mailbox/server can accept emails of this size. You'll then be able to insert this background into your word processing document, and because we also give you helpful DIY hints and tips, you can get started straight away!
A. You can use your background for as many pages in your resume as you wish. The background will come as a jpeg which you can place/insert in any word processing or layout program. There are just so many different programs, we're unable to give you specific instructions for all of them, so we recommend you check the 'Help' section of your program first, to see how to place an image into a page.
A. Once you've finished creating your own Ready Resume, you should SAVE IT! You can also make a PDF of it (perfect for emailing to prospective employers) - simply go to www.adobe.com to find out how to make a PDF online.
A. You’ve got 2 options. Your first option is to type your resume into a word or text document, when time allows, saving as you go. Once you have it written, you can then cut and paste sections from your text document, straight into the text field boxes provided on our site. Alternatively, you can burn a copy of your resume (and cover letters if required) as a text or Word file onto a CD Rom, complete the downloadable postal form and post to us at the address provided.
A No problem. Many of our designs feature white or very light coloured backgrounds. That makes them especially suited to faxing. However, you might consider testing it yourself before sending it out to prospective employers.
A. We’re pretty sold on colour and the psychological impact it has (hence our revolutionary resumes!) but we also understand that not every hiring manager will be printing the resumes in full colour. Before we offer any of our designs, we test and test and ensure they look almost as great in black and white. Even without colour, our resume designs will still stand out in a crowd!
A. Click on ‘Cover Letters’ under Resume Services in the top menu bar and proceed with your order from there.
A. In the recruiting industry, some companies use hardware and software to scan your resume, turn it into a text document and then ‘scan’ it for key words and phrases. Although OCR scanning is still used in some parts of recruiting, it seems to be losing its popularity. More and more employers are requesting emailed resumes – and your digital PDF can easily be scanned for key words without having to sacrifice colour and visual impact. On a personal note, though, you might want to ask yourself – do you really want to work for someone who’s only interested in ‘key words’, and not you as a whole? |
